Service Description

DESCRIPTION: This is an instructor-led, online workshop that will run between 1.5 hours - 3.5 hours (depending on the number of students), and is a condensed version of our in-person, 3-day, 2-night, no bullshit, very serious, hands-on conflict photography workshop. You will learn the fundamentals of safely photographing in global conflict zones. Because this is a condensed online course, we will focus primarily on photographing riots and protests in high-risk, urban environments, but we will also cover documentary photojournalism in war zones. In this REMOTE, interactive workshop I will personally teach you the fundamentals of high-risk, urban conflict photography. This workshop is based on my direct, personal experience photographing conflicts around the world where kidnapping, mob violence, and enemy contact are very real threats. SPECIFICS: - MODULE 1 - PLANNING: Collecting intel, performing threat assessments, gear prep, shot list, & the photo essay. - MODULE 2 - WORKING: How to work as a photographer in protests, riots, and war zones, medical knowledge, & field editing. - MODULE 3 - SURVIVING: How not to die while photographing in a conflict zone. Questions and answers. LEVEL: New or experienced photographers wishing to perform urban conflict photography. GEAR: For this remote workshop, you'll only need a computer capable of running video conferencing software like Google Meet, Zoom, or Uber Conference. Use of headphones with a good mic is highly recommended. Please attend from a private, quiet location with a stable internet connection. MOST IMPORTANT: Bring an open mind, a good attitude and a curious nature! This is a serious, but fun REMOTE workshop that will prepare you to photograph in high-risk urban environments.
